Contraindications

For a treatment to be safe and effective, your therapist needs to know about your health. Before the session, please tell us honestly about any health conditions. These contraindications apply to all salon treatments — massages, sauna and steam, peelings, pressotherapy and others.

1. Absolute contraindications

Treatments are not performed if you have any of the following:

  • cancer at any stage — without written approval from your attending physician;
  • acute cardiovascular disease, severe heart failure, a recent stroke or heart attack;
  • acute inflammation, fever, raised body temperature (above 37.0 °C);
  • infectious diseases, fungal or bacterial skin infections, open wounds, burns and localised skin damage;
  • severe varicose veins, thrombosis or marked fragility of blood vessels — affected areas are not treated;
  • pregnancy — for intensive treatments, deep tissue massage and vacuum massage. We offer a special massage for expectant mothers at any week of pregnancy — the therapist adapts it to your stage after a detailed talk about how you feel.

2. Relative contraindications

A treatment is possible after consulting the therapist (and, if needed, a doctor): the intensity is adjusted or a different treatment is chosen.

  • Lymphatic drainage and vacuum massage: visible broken capillaries (spider veins), early-stage varicose veins, lymphostasis — the intensity is reduced.
  • Hot stone therapy: a flare-up of a chronic condition, heightened skin sensitivity, diabetes, especially with reduced sensation (diabetic neuropathy).
  • Chronic spine and joint conditions during a flare-up.
  • Allergy to essential oils or cosmetic ingredients — please let us know in advance so we can choose other products.

3. Before your treatment

  • Tell your therapist about chronic conditions, medication you take, allergies and pregnancy. On your first visit we ask you to fill in a client card.
  • Avoid eating for an hour before the treatment; alcohol does not mix with treatments.
  • If you feel unwell or have a raised temperature, it is better to reschedule. You can do this free of charge up to 24 hours in advance — see the salon rules.
  • If in doubt, consult your doctor before the treatment.

4. Important

This list is not exhaustive. The therapist may also adjust or decline a treatment in other cases where it could harm your health.

Park Spa is not liable for consequences if a health condition was not disclosed. See the salon rules for details.
